Ars-en-Ré is the result of both nature and man. In fact, Ars was originally an island, close to the islands of Ré and Loix. But little by little, this archipelago was able to form a single island, giving Ars-en-Ré the opportunity to become a village in the heart of the Ile de Ré.
In particular, you can enjoy the splendor of its small trading port, which for many years was a key place for transporting salt to the mainland. Today, it's a popular tourist destination that reveals all its beauty.

It's impossible not to discover the splendid bell tower overlooking this bright village, and take a stroll through its narrow streets. And on a daily basis, the market welcomes you to sample the local produce.

Of course, there's much more to the Ile de Ré than just Ars-en-Ré, and there's a whole host of activities and visits to enjoy. Discover the beaches all around the island, as well as the splendid Phare des Baleines in Saint-Clément-des-Baleine, overlooking the ocean. This listed building is not to be missed. For a walk close to nature, the Lilleau des Niges National Nature Reserve in Les Portes-en-Ré will seduce you with its surrounding flora. Take a stroll near Bois-Plage-en-Ré, Port De Saint Martin or the Abbaye des Châteliers... Each of these walks is as different as the next, but no less striking! And for a bit of history, opt for a guided tour!
Fishing enthusiasts will be delighted on the island. In fact, you can go rock fishing at sunset in a unique setting.
